At SNURK we cherish a love for handcraft themes in our photo prints. There are
prints of knitted flowers and woolen blankets, origami birds, pom-poms and Play-Doh clay. Crafting our styles by hand allows our designers to create unexpected textures, influence color palettes and play around with optical illusions. Often with the help of freelance artists. It is a long creative process from idea to photo print,
with many hours of craft in the middle.
Our designer Peggy finds her inspiration for new prints everywhere. This time it was a toy rug that she came across while shopping online on eBay.
Next step is a sketch of the print. Cars made from clay, but also the road. Or 'snake sausages', as Peggy calls them here.
For this print we collaborated with artist Georgina Vieane. Georgina makes beautiful ceramics, graphic and advertising work. And for SNURK also cars made of clay!
We bought a lot of Play-Doh in all colors of the rainbow ...
Time to start claying!
And the result was impressive: a selection of colored cars, trees, traffic signs, traffic lights and roads.
All clay figures were photographed by our image editor Theo and brought together in Photoshop to form a colorful traffic scene.
The first digital sketches made by Theo. After this Peggy and Theo take a good look at it together and the final files are sent to Portugal.
